Challenge 3 - Breaking the Pattern 2026 ANNUAL PROJECT: - Within the City Square Photos can be taken between November 1st 2025 and October 31st 2026. All photos must be taken within the boundaries of the city and inside North Tce, West Tce, South Tce and East Tce. This means no photos of anything outside the Terraces ie. No Parliament House, no Riverside, no Parklands, no Greenhill Rd, no Botanic Gardens etc. Entrants may stand on the Northern side of Nth Tce and shoot images looking into the city, but not the other way looking out from Nth Tce. The Annual Project is an open category, ie any subject matter and may be entered in both Colour and Monochrome sections. Entrants must identify the area of the city in the title of the photo: eg. Rundle Mall’s Balls, Sunset on Halifax St, etc March 24 - Living in Rural SA. Photos will show daily working life in country SA. This includes country landscapes, small towns, people and events in rural regions of SA. April 28 - Shooting different /unusual angles. Photos can be of any subject, shown from a different or unusual angle. The angle may change the perspective, shape or composition of the photo. June 23 - Minimalism Minimalism photography focuses on simplicity, negative space and essential elements to create calm impactful images often using clean lines, limited colours and strong composition to highlight a single object. September 22 - The Blue Hour Photos will be taken during early morning or at sunset when the sky shows a distinctive blue colour for a short space of time. Photos must include the deep blue sky and can be of any subject. Challenge Definitions Challenge 1 - Bridges. This includes all road, rail, air and suspension bridges and either old, new, ruined or being newly built . Challenge 2 - Weathered- this challenge highlights objects that have been weathered by time or climate conditions. It does not focus on storms, clouds, wind or lightning, but rather the effects of these phenomena on objects/structures or the natural environments. Challenge 3 - Breaking the Pattern - photos where a pattern of objects or natural forms can be seen and one or several objects or natural forms breaks the pattern. Both the pattern and the disruption must be visible. Challenge 4 - Re-Create a Famous Painting with a Modern Twist. The presentation by Carol Buys and the Visit to the Art Gallery to view the ‘From Monet to Matisse’ exhibition will give ideas for members to capture the essence, composition and/or mood of the painting while introducing a distinctly modern element.
